Created facets are non-functional

I just noticed that I cannot use facets that I have created (either by selecting vertices to create a convex hull or by selecting “create shape”) to apply an outgassing rate or a profile to display pressure along the facet.

However, when I copy an existing facet from the model, applying either an outgassing rate or a pressure profile works.

I am currently using MolFlow 2.10.2

What do you mean “cannot use”, what exactly is not as expected?

Hi Marton,
thank you for the quick reply!
As I have tried to explain, if I for example set an outgassing rate to a created facet (even a very large one), it basically does not make a difference, so the pressure in the entire chamber does not change at all.

Can you attach a screen recording? (shift+win+s)

Hello!

Just to jump in with a quick recommendation - check the direction of the normal of your newly created facet. When creating a facet manually the normal direction can be different than what you expect, so it may be outgassing all the particles “outside” of your chamber. (You can quickly invert the normal direction with Ctrl + N)

Hi, thanks for your input. I tried this, but it didn’t change anything.
Interestingly, when I copy an existing facet, I can set an outgassing rate.
However, I have also tried a different model and it worked there. I’m not sure why this is not working with the specific project I was working with, but a colleague of mine ran into the same issue when opening the same project on his PC.

I see!
In this case, as Marton suggested, it’s best if you can provide the molflow file or at least a screen recording.
