Display of Facet Normal Vectors

Dear Marton,

While examining the orientation of some facets in my model, I encountered a few facets that display their normal vectors in an unexpected way. While it may be expected behavior, this is the first time I have noticed it.

For four-sided facets and most three-sided facets, the normal vector begins at the center of the facet. Here are examples of each case:

However, for certain three-sided facets, the normal vector appears well offset from the center of the facet. Were it not for the red outline of the facet, I would guess that the normal vector displayed actually corresponds to a larger four-sided facet at the same location. Here is an example:

This behavior does not interfere with the function of the simulation, but it is curious. It appears to be related to which corner of the triangle is the origin of the u, v coordiante system. Does MolFlow perhaps take the approach of placing the normal vector origin at the midpoint of the extend of the facet in the u and v directions?

Best,

Alec
