How extude a straight tude with multi steps

Hello Marton
Recently I’m studying Vacuum COST. Calculating PSD need individual facet cells on the model.Like This

However, when I extrude a facet, it seems only can build multi steps when tude is not straight. Like below

In extrude facet setting window, radius and angle must be a positive value

I want to know how extude a straight tude with multi steps
Thanks in advance!

Hello:

to extrude in a straight line just use the option above the one for curved extrusions…

Thanks rRoberto
Yes,this can extrude a straight tube, but it is no steps. I hope you can see the difference by picture below.
Fisrt pic. is no steps. Can only select facet of all region from left boundary to right.

Second pic. with steps. Can select facet with more choices.

OK, sure… but you just need to select the last facet (cross-section perpendicular to extrusion axis) and repeat the operation as many times as necessary. Few additional mouse clicks.

I used the method you recommended to build the model above. However, for a more complex model that requires more subdivisions(steps), the efficiency of this method becomes very low. I was wondering if MolFlow could add a feature, similar to the ‘Extrude Curve’ function, that allows the user to choose the number of subdivisions (steps) when extruding a straight tube. If this feature were added, it would greatly simplify the modeling process.

Thanks a lot!

Hello Roberto,

After carefully reading the MolFlow user guide, I found the solution to my question at “Creating Outgassing Map.” It allows convert a facet to smaller subfacets, each with its own individual property.

Best regards,
Wang

I recommend to rather use the Facet/Explode command, which is designed to convert texture cells to subfacets. The outgassing map also does this (and somethig else), glad you have found it.
