Dear Marton,
When I use convergence plotter,I want a high frequency sample rate, but the defaut sample rate in molflow is 1 per second. How can I change it?
Thanks for help!
Please note that the term “sample rate” is somewhat misleading. MolFlow refreshes the scene once per second because it is an expensive computational task. This cannot be set to higher frequency. In fact, it can be even disabled for longer simulations:
Please note that computing time (how long the simulation runs) has nothing to do with physical time, and thus sampling rate is a software feature (how often formula values are recalculated), not related to physics. The convergence plotter helps you find when a formula value converges (when to stop the simulation), so a larger than 1s sample rate would not really be useful.
Hello Marton,
Now I understand “sample rate”.So I want to get the data change in physical time. For example, get the force data on a facet 10 times per second. How should I set in molflow?
Thanks for reply!
Hello Wang,
There are two tutorials to start using the time-dependent mode (which also supports force measurements).
- If you prefer a Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCvivksgqWY
- If by any chance Youtube is not available from you region: Molflow webinar - Time-dependent simulations basics (Acoustic delay line) · CDS Videos · CERN
- Roberto has made a PDF tutorial: 61st AVS Synopsium tutorial materials | Molflow+ (second tutorial)
After checking out one of them, get back for concrete questions.
Good luck, Marton
Hello Marton,
I have watched the youtube video, that helps me a lot. Thanks!
Now,I know how to set time-dependent simulation. But I have a new problem about how to export time dependent data. I want to all the data throught the time span I set ,e.g.record force every 10-3 second. But it seems in molflow it only can record it one by one by hand.Is there a tool can export the data in one time? Thanks for help!
Best wishes.
Yes, we added it recently: use this button in the lower left corner of formula editor.
Make sure you use a recent version of MolFlow (i.e. 2.9.24)
It works for formulas. You can plot time-dependent pressures through Time/Timewise plotter.
There is no way to batch-export quantities on the Facet Details window, though, so formulas are required.
Hello Marton,
I just wanted to express my gratitude for the recent update to version 2.9.24. Now I’m able to export data, which is incredibly helpful for my work. Thank you so much!
I have another question regarding the calculation of Brownian force noise, it’s on this topic: Brownian noise calculate(gas damping noise). I would really appreciate any advice or guidance you could provide on this topic.
Thank you!
Hello Wang Peng:
Concerning how to “use” the tools that Marton has made available in Molflow+ for simulating Brownian motion I suggest you find and read the papers (PhD thesis at University of Trento, Italy) and those published on various peer-reviewed journals by Lorenzo Sala (under prof. Stefano Vitale supervision)… sorry I can’t give you links here now.
Hello Roberto,
Thanks for your suggestion.I have read the Phd paper written by Lorenzo Sala,It may need a lot time for me to understand the paper.I hope it can solve my question.
Best wishes
