Ran check update from Molflow startup and it installed the newer beta version, but the files were not executable. They ran fine if downloaded from Github. Was using the Mac Arm 2.9.7 version
Hello Alan,
This is known and I can’t do anything about it due to Apple’s security policy. Apple imagined development in macOS through creating a developer id and paying a yearly fee, and distributing through the App store…
However, I’ll add a note in the auto-updater log that’s visible in Molflow, since “you can now run the new version” is indeed misleading. I’ll also investigate why it runs fine if downloaded from Gitlab, albeit good news, this is not expected.
Probably you already know it, but after the auto-updater runs, you have to…
- Right-click on the newly created molflow directory (adjacent to the old version)
- Choose Services → New terminal tab at folder
- Type
chmod +x molflow molflowCLI compress
To make things worse, after this, when you open molflow (which is now executable), you might have to go through the “unblock” process, clicking “Allow anyway” in Settings/Security&Privacy, as described here:
